Выставка DoubleBrick

Our first AFOL event, DoubleBrick Fest, took place on the last two days of spring 2009. This was our first experience with a public event, as the AFOL community was founded in Russia just a few years ago. While it was small and modest in comparison with other annual worldwide known events and exhibitions, we’re very proud that we made this first step with fan events.

Амбассадоры LEGO

Hello LEGO Enthusiasts,

We’re happy to announce that the nomination process for LEGO Ambassador Cycle 7 is now open.

The LEGO Ambassador Program is designed to give the AFOL Community a direct line into the LEGO Company. This group is able to bring forward the interests, concerns and questions directly to LEGO Employees.

As Adult or Teenage Fans of LEGO, you bring an important perspective to the LEGO Group. We respect your creativity and passion for the LEGO brand.

In December 2008, we did an online survey to learn more about the global AFOL (defined as ages 20+) and TFOL (defined as ages 13-19) communities and for your information, we have listed the key findings below. Hard Truck Contest

This past January, the DoubleBrick community presented an all-new idea of entertainment for LEGO fans. It’s very simple: we suggest that you build a copy of any real truck from LEGO bricks and to compete in races for fastest and most accurate cargo delivery. You can run small racing competitions at your local club meeting or schedule the contest as part of a large event – it’s always fun and attentiongetting, as highly detailed working truck models are good for display at any show. The basic idea is simple and straightforward. One has not to be a technic geek to build a truck. Still, there a lot of possibilities for experienced builders to show their skills.

The DoubleBrick community was started four years ago, when almost nothing LEGO-related was available online in Russian. Since then, things have changed. Several other sites and forums have appeared. Even the official LEGO site was translated into Russian a little bit. Still we have a shortage of online resources in our native language.

This model was built by two members of DoubleBrick Dan and Hor, and was first time shown to public on LEGO World Show 2008 in Oslo.

The idea of building the Spasskaya Tower came to us as we were discussing which model to build for LEGO World Show 2008 in Oslo. It was the first time a team from Russia participated in such show. That is why it was vital to create not only a beautiful model that was no worse than others but it also had to be easy to recognize. During our discussion we decided to build the walls of red bricks, since they are a typical feature of our national architecture.
