DoubleBrick Fest - Russia’s First AFOL Event

Our first AFOL event, DoubleBrick Fest, took place on the last two days of spring 2009. This was our first experience with a public event, as the AFOL community was founded in Russia just a few years ago. While it was small and modest in comparison with other annual worldwide known events and exhibitions, we’re very proud that we made this first step with fan events.
New LEGO Ambassador cycle

Hello LEGO Enthusiasts,
We’re happy to announce that the nomination process for LEGO Ambassador Cycle 7 is now open.
The LEGO Ambassador Program is designed to give the AFOL Community a direct line into the LEGO Company. The Program is essentially a gathering of community representatives that speak on behalf of the larger communities they are a part of. This group is able to bring forward the interests, concerns and questions directly to LEGO Employees.

Hard Truck Contest

This past January, the DoubleBrick community presented an all-new idea of entertainment for LEGO fans. It’s very simple: we suggest that you build a copy of any real truck from LEGO bricks and to compete in races for fastest and most accurate cargo delivery. You can run small racing competitions at your local club meeting or schedule the contest as part of a large event – it’s always fun and attentiongetting, as highly detailed working truck models are good for display at any show. The basic idea is simple and straightforward. One has not to be a technic geek to build a truck. Still, there a lot of possibilities for experienced builders to show their skills.
Hard Truck Contest
What is Hard Truck Contest?
This is exciting new competition and anyone can take part in it. The main objective of the project is a cheerful challenge, which main characters are your own-built models of trucks!
This is freightage and display of driving and design skills. The beauty and design are as important as durability and reliability. Each challenge will have its own interesting goals and features, and each participant will be able to feel like real truck driver!
- First you build the model of a truck on a scale of 1 to 22.
Building Contests and Clubs: How a Russian LEGO Fan Club Grows and Keeps Members
The DoubleBrick community was started four years ago, when almost nothing LEGO-related was available online in Russian. Since then, things have changed. Several other sites and forums have appeared. Even the official LEGO site was translated into Russian a little bit. Still we have a shortage of online resources in our native language.
LEGO Ambassador from DoubleBrick Community
Several minutes ago this year’s LEGO Ambassadors election results were announced. And we proudly inform you that among the elected is a representative of our Community – a well-known and honored member Dan. We all would like to congratulate Dan on his election as an Ambassador and we expect him to do his best in the hard mission of popularization of LEGO in Russia. Those who may wish to congratulate Dan personally may do it on our forum.
